Cleaning Stainless Steel Jewelry
1) Use a cloth which is lint-free, soft and non abrasive (100% cotton is good). After that you can use a dishwashing liquid, just use few drops to clean your jewelry. Wipe it gently and if your stainless steel jewelry has a brushed finish, wipe along the grain so that you will not have uneven shiny spots on it. Lastly, do not soak your jewelry in the water, instead use warm water which has no liquid and wipe the jewelry clean.
2) If your jewelry needs more work, you can use a toothbrush with just a little bit of tooth paste . This is a good way to clean those hard to get areas such as in between grooves, if you do not want to use toothbrush, you can use cloth with a little bit of toothpaste. Do take note that the toothpaste must not contain silica. After scrubbing it, use warm water without any soap in it to rinse your jewelry.
3) Drying your jewelry, use a lint-free cloth to wipe any residue of water as to make sure that there will be no water spot marks on your jewelry.
4) Once it is dry, use a polishing cloth or a metal polish on your jewelry. This can bring an old piece of stainless steel jewelry to it’s former glory, resulting an amazing new life to your beloved piece.
Maintaining Stainless Jewelry
Stainless steel jewelry doesn’t need much attention, but one thing to take note is that it is still prone to scratches.
They key to prevent scratches is to minimise any contact with other items that may damage your stainless steel jewelry. Always store your pieces separately from other jewelry. I usually store them in individual ziplock bags or pouches.
